Ian & Kaarina's Victoria Pix
If you were following my Tweets or reading the blog from my Western Swing, you may already have read what happened at "Mile 0" in Victoria. That's where Lisa Cole took me so we could get some photos of Voyageur with the statue of Terry Fox at the spot where he was intended to end his "Marathon of Hope".
I was lining up a shot pretty much like this one on my iPhone (which I Tweeted) when a couple pulled up in a car and called out: "Is that the Six String Nation guitar?". It was Ian and Kaarina James, amateur photographers from Salmon Arm BC, who were in town doing some photo-exploration on Vancouver Island. They'd heard about the guitar when we were in Salmon Arm for the festival in August. They asked if they could get some shots with their very pro-looking gear, which, of course, was just fine with me. They took this one, which turned out far better than my own version on the iPhone and then they just hung out with us for a while as more and more people came by to check out Voyageur.
The following night, Ian and Kaarina also showed up at the Solstice Cafe and took more photos there. They got me to sign their "Six String Nation" book, which is where they got the inscription that appears on this photo.
For those of you rightly disappointed by my sad TwitPics, you'll be very happy with the gallery posted by Ian and Kaarina. Have a look, these are great shots of a great day and a great evening.
