Last night was the opening reception for the Six String Nation portrait exhibit, Miroir du Canada, on now until the end of the month at the Alliance Française on Spadina Road in Toronto.
The exhibit is built on the one printed by the Luminato Festival back in June with a few extra portraits commissioned by the Alliance featuring members of Toronto's vibrant francophone community. The show looks great and it's even partly visible from the street in that gorgeous old building at the southwest corner of Spadina Rd. and Lowther.
In fact, the exhibit is both prelude and backdrop to next week's Quand la poésie résonne, a cabaret-chanson featuring Cindy Doire, Bernard Dionne, Paul Reddick, Sophie Perceval & Marc LeMyre. The cabaret was inspired by "Générations", the poem commissioned for Six String Nation by the late Sudbury-based poet, lyricist and literary professor, Robert Dickson.
Voyageur will be part of the show so please come out to see the portraits and hear some great music in a lovely setting at the Alliance Française at 7:30pm on Friday November 13th.
