Jowi Taylor
President, Six String Nation

Radio programme Global Village. He is also the host, writer, co-creator and co-
producer of CBC Radio’s “The Wire”, which won the 2005 Peabody Award, the
2005 Prix Italia and the 2005 Director’s Choice Award at the Third Coast Audio
Festival in Chicago.

Six String Nation is the product of 11 years of work (so far) and neatly combines
Jowi’s fascination with Canada’s multiple identities, multimedia projects and a
multitude of musics.

George Rizsanyi
Master Luthier

George Rizsanyi arrived at Pier 21 in Halifax at the age of 2 in 1956 with his
parents George and Elizabeth, who were fleeing the Soviet crackdown of the
Hungarian Revolution.

He built his first guitar in 1976. As he honed his craft, Rizsanyi soon developed
his own style marked by a rich, full-bodied sound with great playability and sound
projection.

George Rizsanyi’s client list includes such eminent players as Keith Richards,
Sting, Peter Gabriel, James Taylor, Rick Fines, Willie P. Bennett, the late Noel
Redding and even actor Donald Sutherland.

After many years in Ontario, Rizsanyi now lives and works in rural Nova Scotia.

Sara Nasr
Inlay / luthier's assistant

Sara was born in Nova Scotia but first made her musical mark with her sister Kamila as part of the thriving scene in St. John's Newfoundland. Recently, she's been living in Toronto studying art history and music at York University. A previous student in George Rizsanyi's school of luthiery, she spent 8 days in May-June of 2006 doing the inlay work on the fretboard and headstock of the Six String Nation guitar.
