The guitar itself comprises 64
different pieces of material - wood, bone, metal, stone and others - many deployed in multiple places and for multiple functions in the construction. An additional 13
pieces of mostly soft material are embedded in the case
and a further 7
pieces of hard and soft elements adorn the strap. Every piece has a story to tell.
It is an idea and an instrument, a mirror and a megaphone, and you can hold it in your own hands.
Our hope is that hearing the stories from which it was built - at schools, community events, festivals, and corporate events - will allow every Canadian who encounters it to hear their own story in it, and that everyone who hears it played will hear their own voice as part of the harmony of all the many voices of Canada.
